My practice: I have been “involved” with Yoga for some years, and I have always loved it. The first Yoga session I attended was back in the late 1970s. I was going through an incredibly difficult emotional time. I was able to completely free myself of the emotional pain of the experience during my active pursuit of yoga asanas...which absolutely amazed me! Additionally, at the end of this first series of classes, I had grown an inch....and I was in my 20s! I walked more erect, I felt more confident, focused and calm. I was sold!

Over the years, for one reason or another, my commitment to my own practice fluctuated. However, in the mid 1990s, I felt a need to re-commit myself. I committed to 2 to 4 sessions a week, on my own. Next I began taking classes twice a week at a health center, and practiced at home, as well. Within a few years I decided I wanted to teach Yoga to others. So, I took 1 month off, and went to Yogaville in Buckingham, VA, and took their Teacher Training. It was transforming; I received so much more than I had expected--it was a life-changing experience! So, here I am today, teaching Yoga and loving it!

Style/Focus: Generally speaking, I teach what I describe as a more “traditional” style of Yoga. The focus is on breath, relaxation, stress reduction, improved flexibility and posture, enhanced body and self awareness, and increased focus and balance. There is also opportunity within these classes for strength-building--but that is not the primary goal, just a side benefit!
